Dehumidifiers

Dehumidifiers are pretty simple devices, but having some smart tech in them can be useful. I own the Midea cube dehumidifier from Amazon. It is wifi connected and provides some basic stats. What I like about it:

  • I can track the humidity and temp in the basement over time
  • I can tell the current water status of the bucket so I know when to go empty it
  • I can alert myself when the bucket is full and it’s no longer running
  • There’s a Home Assistant plugin for the Midea dehumidifier

If you don’t need/want those things, don’t get a smart dehumidifier. I like my Midea dehumidifier and would recommend it. Their app is mediocre and they have a tendency to break its functionality though.

There’s really not much else I can think of to say about smart dehumidifiers

Notes

  • To the best of my knowledge, the core refigeration loops basically all come from the some factory in China that’s owned by Midea.
